Shade Planting List
As a new house with no existing trees on the property there will not be a significant amount of available shade. However, the rear of the property abuts a natural area with large oaks that do provide some shade. This area is not high on my list for planting, since it is below the grade of the house and can not be seen except from a few vantage points within the house. The plants indicated below are ones I am considering for including. The plants with an * have actually been planted in this area.

- Mahonia - Can tolerate deep shade. Attractive 3' to 5' shrub. Complements ferns.
