Zinnia

  • Overview - A reliable annual that can take the heat during the summer in Central Florida. Plant from February through June. Can take full sun.
  • Zinnia or Common Zinnia (zinnia elegans) Multiple colors and forms. Does well in the heat of Florida summers. Mildew can be a problem in the wet summer months. Range in height from 6" (dwarf varieties) to 3'. Prefers full sun, average soil and minimal watering.
  • Mexican Zinnia, Narrow-Leaved Zinnia, Orange Zinnia (zinnia haageana) Can withstand summer heat. While not great for cut flowers, it is a good filler.
  • Narrow-Leaf Zinnia (zinnia angustifolia) Smaller variety of Zinnia that reaches 10" to 12" tall with small flowers resembling daises.
